REVIEW

Centered around adorable 5-year-old twins that were separated at birth, The Adoption Surprise is a slow burn romance between one girl’s aunt and the other’s adoptive father. Dealing with the trauma and grief of the loss of one or both adoptive parents, the instant connection between the twins is accompanied by an instant attraction, leading to guilt and resistance, between realtor Kelsey Harris and former pastor Zach Johnson.

Rounding out the story are interactions with a nemesis, an encourager, an interloper, and Kelsey’s two best friends. And the potential for further stories featuring those friends, along with a certain practicing pastor, left me wanting more.

This was such a fun story to read and Morgan and Mia are a delight with their instant bond and different personalities. With themes of grief, challenged faith, and familial love, The Adoption Surprise is Zoey Marie Jackson’s debut title with Love Inspired and I cannot recommend it enough. If you enjoy a touching, heart-felt friends-to-more story be prepared to want to read this one in a single sitting.
