First Line Friday–The Promise of Breeze Hill

It’s almost St. Patrick’s Day so it is time for another themed First Line Friday!  Luckily enough, I read my first book (so far) by Pam Hillman last year with a strapping Irishman as the hero.  In 1791, Connor O’Shea is the first of his family to leave Ireland and finds himself being sold as an indentured servant, purchased to work as a carpenter to restore Breeze Hill Plantation’s main house.  There is danger, excitement, and romance to be found along the Natchez Trace (also the name of the series).

I could go on, but instead I’ll just open my copy of The Promise of Breeze Hill by Pam Hillman and share the first line:

Connor O’Shea braced his boots against the auction block and glared at the crowd gathered on the landing.

Vultures.  Ever’ last one o’ them.“

I couldn’t resist adding that extra bit as Connor’s accent is part of his charm.  I gave The Promise of Breeze Hill a rave review last year and I’m so looking forward to meeting another O’Shea brother in the second novel of the series, The Road to Magnolia Glen, due out in June.
