There are a select few authors for Harlequin’s Love Inspired Historical line whose books I consider “must reads” and it looks like I need to add Lacy Williams to that list. A Cowboy for Christmas, the fourth in her Wyoming Legacy series, was a surprise and yet exactly what I was hoping for. A sweet romance, growing faith, a bit of adventure and a bit of a challenge to be overcome on the way to happily ever after.
Now, reading the publisher’s description (included below), I did think I knew pretty much what to expect. The surprise lay in the main characters and the situation that brought them together. The extent of Daisy’s injury, Ricky’s feeling of responsibility and his dedication to helping her, made for a very interesting and ultimately heart-warming read.
The boss stared at him, and Ricky had never felt more judged in his life. How had it come to this? Wanting this one man’s approval more than just about anything?
He felt nauseous, knowing he didn’t deserve approval. His past might not shackle him anymore, he was free to be the man God had created him to be.
But that didn’t mean that others could see past who he had been.
And Daisy didn’t even know all of it. She might not want him when she did. There was a good chance of it. (70%)
Recommended for those who enjoy a sweet cowboy romance. As my first Christmas themed read of the year and my first Lacy Williams read, this was a great choice. A quick, enjoyable read that left me wanting to read the other books in the series, particularly any that might concern Ricky’s family. Though I will be at the mercy of library availability, I do hope to continue to read them in series order.
